Democratic leaders are finally pushing for a troop withdrawl deadline in August 2008. If passed, (and depending on what version is passed), this could put an end date on the war.
Some Republicans are attacking it on the basis that it is micromanagement of the war; this is fallacy, right there. It’s Congress’s way of voting to get out (which they have the right to do; this is a democracy, and the policy directions should come from the legislature.)
Don’t try to couch it in an issue of micromanagement or democrats in congress trying to usurp power. Congress is supposed to be in mostly in charge. If you’re going to debate the issue, debate it on the merits of the issue itself.
